Fresh Start Laundry: A Lifeline

For Mercedes, the Fresh Start Laundry at Augusta Rescue Mission has been more than just a place to wash clothes—it’s been a lifeline. “It’s a blessing to be able to wash the clothes for

myself and the two I take care of—my mom and my daughter,” she shared. “It takes a little extra stress off of me.”

After a hurricane set her back, Mercedes found the Mission through Facebook and began using the laundry service. “That card I found online led me here—and it really helped when I needed it most.” She also shared the resource with others, including her sister, a single mom, and even her younger brother in Florida.

“Not everyone is going to be on their feet all the time,” she said. “A little help helps a lot.” Mercedes is now committed to encouraging others and believes the Mission offers hope, healing, and God’s love without pressure or judgment.
