A Legacy of Hope
The Augusta Rescue Mission was founded in 1965 by Reverend Robert “Bob” Moon and his wife Daisy, who arrived in Augusta with a vision to serve the city’s most vulnerable. With the help of local civic leaders, they formed a steering committee and began offering care to the underprivileged from temporary quarters on 5th Street. The Mission was officially incorporated in 1966, and by 1972, growing demand led to its relocation to a larger facility on Walker Street, where it remains today. Over the past 60 years, the Mission has evolved into a vital community resource, offering homeless men shelter, faith-based discipleship, life skills training, and employment support—all at no cost. Its outreach has expanded to include neighborhood food programs, clothing and furniture distribution, and most recently, a free community laundry service. Through decades of service, the Augusta Rescue Mission continues its legacy of rebuilding lives and breaking the cycle of homelessness.

Our mission is to help break the cycle of homelessness in our community by offering the opportunity for life transformation through Christian discipleship and life skills.
Through shelter, food programs, one-on one coaching, and outreach services, we are here to walk alongside individuals and families as they rebuild their lives. With the support of our volunteers, partners, and donors, we strive to create lasting change and a brighter tomorrow.
